Friday Night Lights
by J.P.
Homecoming sophomore year.
Cool air as the game started
Rival game
Felt nervous sweating water
The stands were as busy as a fly
The sweat ran down my face
Lots of people and fans
Heart of a lion
The football sat in my hands
Parents excited, joyful and proud
On the field
Coach calls a defensive play
I intercepted the ball
Ran back for a touchdown
The field became noisy
As the clock hit zero
Excited
Ran and cried
My first Turkey Bowl in high school

Golden Gloves
by M.M.
Walking from the back room seeing a crowded area
I walked into the ring
No one was cheering me on but my family and coach
I was nervous to fight
Because i was in his home town
Unfamiliar faces
All odds were against me
Before the bell even rang
I noticed his specific style
Easy for me to calculate him
I had more control over the fight
I won the golden gloves in west virginia
My corner was happy

Playdough
by C.M.
Early in the morning
Looking out the window
So many clouds like I’m playing
A Nintendo
Dad having fun but still ain’t win though
Eating all this food getting big like a hippo
Going to the store to get some potatoes
Dad caught a cat screamin out loud like an old piano,
When we got back Mom went loco
Looked in the bag she found old egg rolls,
Sitting in the kitchen looking for playdough

Love is Fire
by A. M.
As I walk into the visiting room.
Kinda scared more so happy to see my mom.
When my mom walked through the door
my eyes got big as a brown tarsier.
I hugged her tightly, like it was my last time seeing her.
It made me feel sad.
I started to day dream
A tear of joy fell down my face.
I realize love is fire.

Ninjas
by A.H.
Going outside wit my friends and beat my feet
And go riding bikes wit the mob
And going across the street to play some B-ball wit some football
Going in the house it’s about 5:00 outside
My grandfather downstairs whipping some deviled eggs
Ninjas jumping all over my gma house fighting and playing
I DID A FLIP AND LEFT THE HOUSE
BUT NINJAS RUNNING ALL OVER MY GMA HOUSE

Jay Jr’s Birth
by J.B.
I walk in a hospital room
The machine beside her bed screamed through the room
She’s in the bed can’t eat in pain even with
Epidural
Thought she may pass out when will this be over
She say she’s in pain I then hit the call button
The nurses come running in the room
The nurses scream push, push, push
Then he came out
His skin was so soft
I was finna cry

My Life
by C. S.
lm around lincoln heights running up money
Back street action it might get crunchy
Dont come on this backstreet thinking we buddie
All the cold nights hand to hand with the junkies
I was down bad now im up
I taking off fast like a car and they prayed I get stuck
I walked in the blind
It hit me just like a Surprise
War in my eyes it hurt to the core
Part of me died but still I’m alive.

The Mansion Was Always a Dream
by A.A.
Dreaming bout a house on a hill
Woke up in the projects
Stay out the streets
They cant
His heart stuck
Been on the avenue so long
He forgot where he lived
Million dollars on his mind
He trying to get it out
Mason Margelas $1100
He only counting where his feet at
Came up from rags
Now its riches
Getting Money wit the team
Start having fun wit transactions
The Mansion was always a dream
Some helped him spend money fast
Early mornings on the ave
Junkies everywhere tryn get a blast
He got fronted raw and glass
16 his hustle turned to joy
Getting money
Living wild
17 he counted 15 thousands
Re’d up and went to Cali
Smoking San Fernando Valley
Cali treated him different
City of Angels
Treated him like a NBA ball player
Y cant he get shown love like that in the Murder capital
Fast cars
And tinted SUV’s
People eye him like he a mayor
On the walk of fame he felt famous
Got love in the City Of Angels
Shopping sprees
Clerks guessing
Looking at the lights
In LA
I told myself
You can do anything
And if you put your all in what you do
No matter what it is people will look at you successfully
I Love D.C. for making me who i am
But i love the world Allah put me on more
Dead Presidents
Dead Presidents
Dead Presidents
He gon get it
As long as they print it
Too much of it
Is never enough of it
Incarcerated
But wont Never Lay Down
Still Paying my legal
If i dont never get to get money again
Im still the Last Of Dying Breed

Nascar Drivers
by E.H.
I was racing my friend on the streets.
I was in a red 2 door porsche and my friend was in a gold 4 door porsche truck.
We raced through third street tunnel.
I was going about 120 mph and it was hard to slow down.
I thought i was about to crash.
I was laughing and my friends were screaming like some little girls.

Loyal Strong Relationship
by N.E.
Me and a woman met in December
She caught my eye, she something I had to remember
Her skin brown and body slim thick
That’s my dawg, she stay down we gon both get rich
I’ve cheated before but she still stayed loyal
She cried herself to sleep before but still stayed strong
I can give her my heart because we both grown
When she’s around I feel safe
Been humble in my cell because I’m going beat my case
Being laid up it smell like woman lotion
Can’t trust a lot of people because a lot be folding
When kissing her it sounds like a basketball went straight in the net
She stands up like a queen
I’m the man of the relationship call me the king
I lost some homies but she was there to calm down the pain
