Animal Community

In Africa, many animals roam,
The animals do call this place home

Those lions, elephants, giraffes, and gnus,
The ones that don’t necessarily belong in zoos

The sun on the Serengeti, rises in the east and sets in the west,
It sets so they can rest.

The wildebeest, zebra, and antelope, crowd at the watering holes,
Far away in east Africa roam the dholes

In the grasslands the prides of lions prowl,
When they spot prey, they growl,
Chase after them they do,
In more than pairs of two.

To the east in Madagascar, hundreds of species there are,
Many are protected, because you can’t get to where they live by car,
Some you can only see at night,
And they may give you a fright,
When seeing the aye-ayes and chameleons holding onto branches tight.

In their territory, in the shallows live the river horses,
In the middle of the water, the current swiftly courses,
You might see them battle,
As they’re very different creatures than cattle.
